Yeah No Shit, Omarosa, Part Deux

Are you tired yet of hearing about Omarosa Manigault Newman’s upcoming book Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House? I know I am!

But if you happen to still care about what she has to say in her tell-all, here’s the latest tidbit to emerge from the entirely credible former reality television “star” who is not at all an opportunist looking to get rich off of her time at the White House—she claims that there are tapes from the time Donald Trump hosted Celebrity Apprentice in which he repeatedly uses the n-word.

This is of course eminently believable, if unsubstantiated. In Unhinged, Manigault Newman shares how these tapes helped her realize that Trump, in her words, was a “racist” and a “bigot.” To which I say, as my colleague Prachi Gupta so eloquently put it, no shit, Omarosa.

“It had finally sunk in that the person I’d thought I’d known so well for so long was actually a racist,” she writes of Donald Trump, a man who in 1989 took out full-page advertisements in four New York City newspapers calling for the death penalty for five black teenagers falsely accused of raping a white woman in Central Park and who called Mexican immigrants “rapists” during his campaign.

Manigault Newman also claims to have been offered hush money from the Trump campaign after she was fired from her White House job last December. As the Washington Post reports, she alleges that Lara Trump, the president’s daughter-in-law, offered her $15,000 a month and a job doing “diversity outreach” for the campaign, but in exchange, she would have had to sign a non-disclosure agreement preventing her from speaking out about Trump and his family. Obviously, she said no!

I think I speak for all of us who would prefer to never have to think about Omarosa ever again in wishing that she had taken that hush money and gone off to, I don’t know, Dancing With the Stars, where all good D-list celebrities and political hacks go to enjoy their golden years.
