There are many reasons to never take a dip in a Trump resort pool, but one of the most practical is that you might get sick. (Who can say what—or who—lays dormant in Trump pool water?) According to a report by Quartz, pools at the Trump resorts in Florida have been shut down “far more frequently” for health and safety violations by the Department of Health than other luxury property pools.

Quartz reports that the Florida properties, which are rated four and five stars, had such egregious violations that they were “forced to close their pools by health inspectors 10 times over the past 12 months.”

“State records show multiple citations for violations like improper pH levels, problems with ‘disinfection feeders’ that pump chlorine into the water, and inadequate safety features, including deficient handrails and ladders,” the report continues. Per the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, the water’s pH balance determines how well chlorine will be able to kill germs, so maintaining these levels is critical in order to prevent conditions like diarrhea, rashes, ear and respiratory infections, or irritation of the eyes and lungs.

Swimmers can avoid the issue entirely, of course, by refusing to ever patronize a Trump property. It’s good for your health.
