Barf BagWelcome to Barf Bag, a daily politics roundup to help you sort through the chaotic Trumpian news cycle.

Here’s all the shit we couldn’t cover today:

  • The Supreme Court temporarily allowed part of Trump’s travel ban affecting six predominantly-Muslim countries to take effect on Monday, and will hear arguments for the case in October. Although this limited ban omits anyone with “a credible claim of a bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United States,” meaning anyone traveling to the US to see a relative or for a job or to attend university would not be impacted, Trump crowed that this was a “clear victory” for his administration. Neil Gorsuch joined with Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, Jr. in a partial dissent, arguing that the full travel ban ought to have been reinstated. [New York Times]
  • And it’s looking like Gorsuch is going to be on the far, far, far right end of just about every argument, as indicated: SCOTUS also ruled today that gay couples were entitled to equal treatment on birth certificates, and Gorsuch, along with Thomas and Alito, dissented. [New York Times]
  • Trump’s White House continues to drool all over democratic norms in its treatment of the White House Press Corps, with yet another off-camera briefing at which reporters were allowed to take—wait for it!—still photographs. How helpful. [The Hill]
  • In a propaganda ad from pro-Trump group The Great American Alliance that is straight out of a made-for-Hulu dystopian teen drama from 2010, Tomi “Tami” Lahren informs us that Bob Mueller, whose name she repeatedly mispronounces, is running a RIGGED INVESTIGATION. [The Hill]

Here are some tweets the president was allowed to publish:

I am confused by Trump’s tweets, because he talks in circles. And then I realize that that’s exactly the point.

What I THINK it boils down to is that he’s trying to say that Russia didn’t interfere with the election, but that Obama colluded with them to try to swing it for Hillary? Except Obama already thought Hillary would win? And there was no Russian interference?

I have no fucking clue anymore. Words escape me.

Also, fuck Sean Spicer.
