RNC Chief Strategist Sean Spicer has revealed his newest strategy for defending against plagiarism accusations directed towards Melania Trump’s speech on Monday, a speech that was very easily shown to rip off Michelle Obama’s speech from 2008. It involves a flying unicorn.

In a desperate interview in which Spicer seems to be speaking as quickly as possible so that he can’t hear himself, he shares a number of quotes from Melania’s speech, then compares them to other famous orators like John Legend and Kid Rock and a very special mini-horse. Did you know My Little Pony’s Twilight Sparkle once said, “This is your dream, anything you can do in your dreams you can do now,” just like Michelle Obama did? Um, yeah, yer busted, Michelle:

Spicer goes on to say that he would never suggest that Michelle Obama plagiarized a magic cartoon horse. She definitely didn’t, if you were wondering, as Twilight Sparkle’s television debut was in 2010 and not widely circulated in political arenas.

It is true that certain platitudes about dreams, love, and family are reused and recycled in speeches, but part of a speechwriter’s job is repackaging those sentiments into something that won’t make the person mouthing them look like a thieving boob. Oh well. As Twilight Sparkle would say, “Happy Nightmare Night, Applejack!”
