- ICE deported Amer Othman Adi, a Palestinian business-owner with a wife and four daughters who has lived in the U.S. for nearly 40 years. This has been happening rather often. “In a highly irregular rebuke of Congressional authority by ICE, Amer Othman was ripped from his four daughters, his wife, and the country that he has called home for over thirty years,” Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) said in a statement. ICE ignored a House Judiciary request for the DHS to review Adi’s case. [HuffPost]
- A Republican lawmaker who certainly has his priorities in check and can determine right from wrong is threatening to get Dreamers arrested at tonight’s SOTU address. [The Hill]
- Paul Ryan thinks it would be cool to “cleanse” the FBI, which… great to hear. Yeah. [The Hill]
- In any case, you can generally tell if a scandal has been concocted by Trump sympathizers if it’s nearly impossible to understand and revolves around a memo or file or email that either A) no one has seen or B) contains a misleading and vague selection of information or, in this case, C) both. - Against the wishes of some Puerto Rican mayors, FEMA will officially shut down its deliveries of food and water supplies to the struggling U.S. territory. [The Hill]
- Trump derailed his own nominee for the ambassador of South Korea because the nominee, Victor D. Cha, does not think it’s a good idea to give North Korea a “bloody nose” (a limited strike that will somehow not result in retaliation). [Washington Post]
