Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin’s Los Angeles home received a “suspicious package” on Saturday night that—after extensive investigation by police, the LAPD bomb squad, and the Secret Service—ended up just being a box containing horse manure. It was signed “the American people,” and while I always appreciate it when gifts are given on my behalf with no effort on my part whatsoever, I’m particularly pleased to be represented here. Happy holidays to our esteemed tax cowboy!

Los Angeles-based psychologist Robert Strong has credibly claimed responsibility for the gift, although the Secret Service declined to confirm this with the Los Angeles Times. “Is there a law that you can’t drop off a box of poo? Not really,” Strong told, saying that he had been interviewed by the Secret Service but was not arrested.

“What I did, I would like to compare to what Jesus did when he went into the temple and overturned the tables of the money-changers, who were exploiting the people financially in the name of religion,” Strong, who doesn’t not look a little bit like Jesus, told KPCC. Sure!

“In the long run, if we don’t do stuff like this, what are we going to have left?” he added.

A lot of wasted poo, Robert. A lot of wasted poo.
