Chelsea Handler Criticized for Body-Shaming Sarah Huckabee Sanders 

On Thursday, Chelsea Handler–who recently announced that she is ending her Netflix show to focus on activism–tweeted a clip from her Netflix series, a parody makeup tutorial by Sarah Huckabee Sanders joking that her face is “a big fat biscuit” and that she looks old.

Comedian Fortune Feimster plays Sanders. The jokes about Sanders’s appearance overshadow the other message the skit seems to be going for, which is a metaphor for how the administration primer-s over Irma victims, Obamacare, Russian investigations, and prefers a white complexion.

Twitter is heavily criticizing the skit for taking the low road, the first being: “Glad to see how much of a strong feminist you are, by promoting positive body image of other females.” There’s a lot of wading through the usual toxic muck from both sides, but the cogent criticisms were of the mean-spirited bullying tone. Handler responded, “This woman deserves to be taken down. She is pure evil.”

As a mouthpiece for the administration, Sarah Huckabee Sanders supplies comedians with a vast portfolio of takedown opportunities. She has consistently treated the post of press secretary as a Trump TV anchor, with briefings as a platform to dress up the Trump agenda and share her personal opinions rather than communicate issues to the public.

She has called for a journalist to be fired. She dishonestly spun George Papadopoulos–who pled guilty to lying to federal agents about Russian contacts–as an insignificant campaign volunteer, when he was in fact an advisor. She has incorrectly said that diversity visas are not vetted. She has insinuated that DACA endorses criminal behavior. She has outright stated that James Comey lied, and she directly attributed the Russia investigation to a Clinton smear campaign. She dodges questions about most things. She has reduced the White House press briefing to a kindergarten class, which is not only stupid but also reveals a sense of entitlement to direct how White House correspondents do their job.
