Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Loves Her Instant Pot

Politics

The Instant Pot is a contentious topic here at Jezebel, and by that I mean, everyone hates the Instant Pot except me. While others see a gimmick, I see a multi-tasking timesaver that has helped me make some of the best pulled pork of my life. Thankfully, this weekend, I found validation from Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who took to Instagram Live on Friday to prepare some Instant Pot macaroni and cheese and shoot the shit about politics with
her 500,000 followers.

Ocasio-Cortez’s love of her Instant Pot is, apparently, well documented. A recent Fast Company profile of Ocasio-Cortez noted another time in which she took to Instagram with her Instant Pot by her side (emphasis mine):

Sprinkled with emoji, cute stickers, hand-drawn illustrations on top of content, colorful fonts, and not a small number of selfie videos, she embraces all the affordances of Instagram. On Halloween night, for instance, she started up a live stream while she prepared ramen in an Instant Pot. As she chopped up vegetables, she answered questions from her followers about her thoughts on politics and the midterms. A portion of the video used the VCR filter, which created a grainy image along with a timecode, and she then posted the results of her meal (yes, it looked tasty), along with a recipe on her Pinterest account.

Can Ocasio-Cortez make this a weekly thing? Can she team up with Ina Garten? This definitely beats reruns of The Pioneer Woman.
