Roy Moore's Wife: 'One Of Our Attorneys Is a Jew'

Just when you think there is nothing left in this life that could possibly shock you, the wife of Senate-hopeful and alleged child molester Roy Moore rolls up to a rally on Monday night—the day before Alabama’s hugely contentious special election—and drops this nugget.

“Fake news would tell you that we don’t care for Jews. But I’ll tell you all this because I see you all, I just want to set the record straight while they’re here: One of our attorneys is a Jew,” she said. “We have very close friends who are Jewish.”

The accusation was made last week in response to Moore’s oblique suggestion that billionaire Democratic donor George Soros was going to hell because he’s Jewish. Per Politico:

“No matter how much money he’s got, he’s still going to the same place that people who don’t recognize God and morality and accept his salvation are going,” Moore said of Soros in an interview on American Family Radio earlier this week. “And that’s not a good place.”

According to Talking Points Memo, Monday’s event was held in “an upscale barn.”

Update: Ah, fuck, that wasn’t even the weirdest comment to be made tonight. That honor belongs to Bill Sailing, who apparently served in Vietnam with Moore. Here he is sharing an anecdote in which they visited a brothel filled with child prostitutes:

It’s amazing that people still use the I have x friend excuse non ironically.

Plus being friends with one member of a marginalized group doesn’t mean that you hold prejudices against the group as a whole. Just like someone can be close to their mom and hate and abuse women.

I’ve had “friends” make disparaging comments about asians in front of me, forgetting themselves and quickly saying oh I don’t mean you. It’s because after they knew me they saw me as a person not as an Asian person.
