Trump’s Advisory Councils Disband But Who Cares? He Never Liked Them Anyway

After Donald Trump #NotAllNazis’d Charlottesville, insisting that there were many “fine people” marching alongside the neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and KKK who killed one woman and injured more than a dozen others as they protested the removal of a Confederate Monument, anyone with even one minuscule shred of humanity left has been running away from him as fast as they can.

This includes, as of Wednesday, about one quarter of Trump’s presidential business advisory councils on American manufacturing—including Merck CEO Kenneth Frazier, Under Armour’s Kevin Plank, and Intel head Brian Krzanich—and, according to the New York Times, the entire Strategy and Policy Forum. While these councils are more ceremonial than policy-oriented, they are undoubtedly important to a megalomaniac who fashions himself as the next (and probably also the original) Rockefeller.

When Frazier announced he was leaving the council, Trump predictably attacked him on Twitter (with harsher words than he had for any of the white supremacists who terrorized Charlottesville or killed peaceful demonstrator Heather Heyer). He also threatened to replace the CEOs leaving his council:

Who would have guessed that in about 24 hours, Trump would embarrass himself and reframe his defeat as a personal victory, announcing that the councils have been disbanded (okay, many could have guessed this):

Congratulations to the general public for putting enough heat on these business leaders to finally, seven months later, do the right thing and abandon this Nazi-empathizing piece of shit-stained garbage.

I would also like to congratulate General Electric CEO Jeff Immelt for taking this bold stance against Nazis and against Donald Trump by announcing his leaving the manufacturing council after Trump already disbanded it. Bravo, Jeff, bravo. You are a true American hero.

Fuck these CEOs and fuck coporate America. They all lined up to kiss the lunatic’s ring for a chance to directly lobby him, in cynical bid to increase their profit margins under the guise of creating jobs. They never cared about the working class, they just wanted access to the deranged emperor.
