Ruth Bader Ginsburg Isn't Going Anywhere, Fucker

The president, a hollow sac of human flesh equipped with an idiot word generator, strung together a lot of stupid phrases this news cycle, including tweeting, unprompted, that he is not stupid, but we can ride that out (nuclear button tweets and irreversible global warming notwithstanding). Someday the Trump wallpaper will be torn off the Oval Office, the “TRUMP LUXURY HOTEL” awning will come off the White House-adjacent building, and Ivanka will disappear from United Nations meetings. But buried in Michael Wolff’s laundry list of dumb shit that’s taken place inside the White House last year was the far more consequential announcement that Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 84, reportedly hired clerks through 2020, defying Trump’s hopes that she will go away. In November, Trump named new Supreme Court candidates without any announcement that a seat would be opening up, and those appointments unsurprisingly skew conservative, as Trump’s chosen new Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch is already demonstrating.

During the campaign, Ginsburg publicly condemned Trump as a “faker” and said “He has no consistency about him. He says whatever comes into his head at the moment. He really has an ego. … How has he gotten away with not turning over his tax returns? The press seems to be very gentle with him on that.” Trump called her dumb and said she should resign.

Her resignation would have serious ideological consequences for decades. Last month, Ginsburg was only one of two justices, with Sonia Sotomayor, to express dissent against the stay which allows Trump to implement his latest travel ban as legal challenges wind their way through the lower courts.

Somewhat heartening, at least, is that for now no mansplaining will go unchallenged.
