Anthony Weiner 'Resigns' From Cushy Job at Powerhouse PR Firm After Two Months

Politics

Anthony Weiner, who will forever bear the title of “disgraced former congressman,” is once again out of a job. This time, he’s been let go from a PR firm he joined just two months ago. The firm’s leaders claim the decision was mutual. Weiner? Yeah, not so much.

Page Six reports that Weiner, who is most famous for going by the name Carlos Danger and sending dick pics to a variety of women who are not his wife, began work at MWW in June, but apparently wasn’t a good fit, although it’s not clear whether that’s because his work was no good or whether the aura of failure that surrounds him was too much for the company’s higher-ups to bear.

From Page Six:

According to an internal memo from MWW chief Michael Kempner, Weiner was a victim of the media who left of his own accord to start his own company and “He understands that his presence here has created noise and distraction that just isn’t helpful.”
“The continuous noise from these parties has caused both Anthony and the MWW team to have to deal with many inflammatory, insulting and false stories,” Kempner wrote in the memo obtained by Page Six.

While the statement is tactful, Weiner claims that none of it is true and that he was never consulted about the memo. It’s also not clear whether Weiner is starting his own company, although a source claims that Weiner came up with the reason for his departure on his own and had known that it was coming. Sources within the company also referred to Weiner’s hiring as a “massive pr blunder,” the effects of which included the resignation of Arthur Schwartz, a top executive who quit after Weiner was hired.

In the past few years, Weiner was kicked out Congress, he lost a mayoral election, and now he’s been forced out of this job. His new company will allegedly focus on reforming New York state’s constitution. MWW, in the meantime, will try to right itself after the negative attention that’s come its way after Weiner’s hiring.

“They did the right thing and acknowledged they should never have hired Weiner in the first place,” said O’Brien Murray, a GOP consultant.

And while Weiner claims that he had no part in the memo that went out to the staff of MWW, this isn’t the first time he’s been accused of lying about why he’s leaving a job. In a 2014 article on Jezebel, Sydney Leathers, the woman who outed Weiner after he sent her dick pics in 2012, fact-checked an interview the former congressman gave to Politico about leaving the world of politics, claiming that Weiner had lied through his teeth about why he was striking out on his own and trying something new.
